Examination

If our consultation suggests that you’d likely be helped with chiropractic care, we’ll need to perform a complete examination. Our patients often comment on how thorough our examination is, compared with other practitioners they’ve consulted.

Our examination varies based upon what we discover during the evaluation of your health history. What we find will tell us which examinations we need to conduct:

Spinal Analysis

Chiropractic Examination

These tests can include postural evaluations, static and dynamic palpation and other procedures to determine whether spinal misalignments exist.  Chiropractors specialize in the detection and correction of spinal misalignments (Subluxation).

Ontario Chiropractic doctors are licensed to make a diagnosis, performing a thorough examination is a vital part of this process. Rest assure that if we find a condition that will not respond to chiropractic, we will refer you to the appropriate person who can.

Nervous System Scan
The Nervous System Scan

Our state of the art diagnostic instrument will objectively help us …

  • Detect areas of nerve disturbance due to spinal misalignments (Subluxations)
  • Document and monitor your results
  • Deliver the appropriate chiropractic care

The scan technology concept has been refined over the years and was recently endorsed by the NASA space agency as having the highest technology for the purpose of advancing human function.  This is one of the most important test that we will perform during your care.   Especially since symptoms are always the last to show up and first to go, it is important to monitor the function of your nervous system using objective scientific methods. The two most common nerve scans that we perform are sEMG and Thermo scan.

sEMG Scan Revealing Nervous System Interference

1)  sEMG scan  (surface electromyography)

Your muscles are controlled by motor nerves.  The sEMG measures how well the motor nerves are working by reading the amount of electrical current found on the muscles. Subluxations cause  nerve disturbance leading  to muscles dysfunction (indicated by color changes).

2) Thermography

Thermography is a way of measuring tiny differences in skin temperature that can reveal Autonomic nervous system disturbances.   The skin is the largest organ in your body and the blood vessels under the skin work as the body's thermostat controlling its temperature.

When the communication between the Nervous System and the blood vessels are disturbed (which can easily be triggered by spinal misalignments), it causes the body's thermostat to malfunction producing an imbalanced temperature reading along the spine.  These blood vessels in your skin are controlled by the same part of the Nervous System that runs your organs and glands, known as the Autonomic nervous system.

The thermal scan provides us with vital information to monitor the autonomic nervous system for proper function.

3) Our most recent addition is the Pulse Wave Profiler

This instrument measures the beat to beat alterations in heart rate at rest, and determines the balance and tone of your nervous system.  This exam is known as Heart Rate Variability.  Proper balance and tone are associated with better adaptability and a healthy lifestyle.  Low heart rate variability is associated with aging and poor heart health.  Published research has shown that chiropractic adjustments have a beneficial effect on heart rate variability.

Spinal Imaging
X-Rays

Diagnostic imaging can help locate any bone abnormalities, fractures and  determine if spinal decay is occurring.  The longer the spine is left uncorrected, spinal decay could be advancing with little or no symptoms.

At the end of your first visit we will give you some important information on what the doctor examined you for and we will schedule your second visit.

X-Ray Interpretation

The significance of each of these tests will be explained to you on your Second Visit, your Report of Findings. Objective testing gives us a baseline for future reference so we can accurately measure your progress to see how your spine is correcting and how well your nervous system is functioning.

Dr. Victor Asks some important questions of interest to Mississauga residents - Chiropractor Mississauga Dr. Victor Asks...

Can subluxations clear up on their own?
Sometimes. Today's hectic lifestyles can be a constant source of subluxations. Fortunately, our bodies have the ability to self-correct many of these minor problems as we bend and stretch, or when we sleep at night. When subluxations don't resolve, you need to see our Mississauga office for chiropractic care!
What's the difference between a "good" drug and a "bad" drug?
As a chiropractor, I see the use of drugs (legal or illegal) as merely symptom treating. Worse, virtually every drug produces unwanted effects. The only effects of chiropractic are positive effects. If you're a Mississauga parent, consider carefully before giving your child a cough medication, cold remedy or pain reliever so this sort of question doesn't arise in the first place.
